Admissions for scientific preparatory classes (CPGE) students

International students enrolled abroad in scientific preparatory classes (CPGE) have 2 options to enter the 1st year of the engineering program and follow the full 3-year « diplôme d’ingénieur ».


Please note that you must choose between one or the other of this 2 admission routes. Indeed, you are not allowed to apply to both entrance exams during the same year.

The Mines-Ponts common entrance examination

After the preparatory classes, Télécom Paris recruits French and foreign candidates

After the Classes Préparatoires aux Grandes Écoles (CPGE), France’s preparatory schools, Télécom Paris recruits through the Mines-Ponts Common Competitive Examination French and foreign engineering students in the fields of: Mathematics-Physics (MP), Physics-Chemistry (PC), Physics-Engineering Sciences (PSI), Physics-Technology (PT) and Technology-Industrial Sciences (TSI) and Mathematics-Physics and Computer Sciences (MPI).

This examination is common to 10 French Grandes Écoles: École des Ponts ParisTech, ISAE-SUPAERO, ENSTA Paris, Télécom Paris, Mines Paris, Mines St Etienne, Mines Nancy, IMT Atlantique, ENSAE Paris, Chimie ParisTech-PSL.

Information and enrolments

Applications are open on  the Mines-Ponts common exam until the beginning of January.

Examination procedure

  • Registration dates: From December to January (see Mines Pont Common Exam)
  • Written tests: end of April
  • Written exam results: posted mid-June on the Mines Pont Common Exam website
  • Oral exams: June and July
  • Admission notification: posted online at the end of July

Ecole Polytechnique FUI-FF entrance examination

Foreign students enrolled in scientific preparatory classes also have the possibility of applying to Télécom Paris through the FUI-FF (Filière Universitaire Internationale – Formation Francophone: International University Course – French-speaking Training) examination procedure of Ecole Polytechnique, Institut Polytechnique de Paris. After passing the written exam, students may be considered for admission to Télécom Paris.

  • Registration dates: From end of January to end of February (see exact dates on the FUI-FF Examination website).
  • Written tests: March
  • Written exam results: mid-April
  • Oral exams: by mid-May
  • Admission notification: end of June
